Eleanor in the press!


As we move towards November, and the anniversary of Eleanor's death, it is lovely to see a piece in the Telegraph today about the crosses, dubbing them "England's Taj Mahal".

Of course I would like to see more of a nod to Eleanor herself and to the ongoing difficulties in ensuring the crosses are adequately maintained and protected (see the narrow escape of the Waltham Cross figures and the recent fight to get maintenance work done to Hardingstone). But the surviving crosses and the story of the series are important, and it is good to see them getting a little bit of prominence.

And here, for those who rightly deplored the illustration of the piece with the Charing Cross homage (not a replica, dear Telegraph) are photos of the real deal ...
